  • AYCS

    Ankur Yuva Chetna Shivir is a Lucknow based NGO working for the cause of social development for more than 33 years both in urban and rural communities. The emphases in our approach have been on holism rather than palliative solutions for immediate crises. We see that our humble aim as enthusing enough self-confidence in our beneficiaries and volunteers, so that they themselves handle the situations of crises. In this effort, we do not have piecemeal solutions. Our programs aims at unifying the varying initiatives in the fields of health, education, livelihood, slum improvement, employment generation and improving the financial health of the community into a singular aim of total human development, by the community and for the community. Our strength in realizing this aim emanates from the hidden force that has sustained and beautified the community in India from time immemorial – the women. They have been the true harbingers of change in our efforts. Whatever is achieved by us so far, we salute to the poverty-ridden women out to change the situation for the better.

    We started with this primary mission as a grass root level NGO; we realized that people themselves are the best judge of what they need. Our main aim has been to convert the individual dreams into a collective consciousness through community convergence and participatory approach with the tools of self as well as social awareness; we endeavor to help the community understand how to convert its latent dreams into reality.

    Ankur Yuva Chetna Shivir has come to the solemn conclusion that none but the community knows the best what is needed for their betterment. It is the community itself, with the right motivation, can accomplish impossible feats in the field of developmental action. It is the people from urban slums and villages, who have inspired Ankur to adopt this slogan;

    “If we can dream it we can do it.”
