KeepersAlert
KeepersAlert runs the computer lab at the House of Smiles where children living and/ or working in the streets come in daily to take a bath, do their laundry and have a meal. KeepersAlert ensures their literacy and socialisation through a diversity of computer literacy activities, educational computer games etc including telling of their personal street life experiences through artwork, writing. They have been trained in Citizen Journalism and all activities documented in the KeepersAlert magazine. KeepersAlert has a project that has removed girls and young women from the homeless people settlement along the Mukuvisi River and relocated to Epworth and the women and girls are now ready to go back to school, get educated with the hope of an even better future. Activities at the House of Smiles prepare the children for a life after the streets helping them deal with the realities of the harshness of streetlife on their self esteem, socialisation and behaviour
