Sarada Valley Development Samithi
Sarada Valley Development Samithi is a community based organization working for the last 3 decades in Visakhapatnam district by undertaking various Government developmental activities. It was registered under Societies ACT as on 13-5-1985 with vide Regd No. 200/85.
From the beginning SVDS has been working against exploitation of natural resources by organizing various CBOs like millet sisters, farmers and VSS to protect forest and bio-diversity. In addition to this our SVDS promoted Rikshaw Pullers Union, Quary Workers to fight against their labour wages and to get minimum precautionary measures and so on. Now SVDS is working on Right to Shelter with the collaboration of IGSSS at Visakhapatnam District. SVDS enhances sustainable livelihoods of the project stakeholders. It develops wasteland as productive farms through participation of vulnerable groups thus improving their living standards also conserves the ecology through sustainable intensive agriculture and use of non-conventional energy resources and encourages millets production and processing.
Mahila Action (“Ma”) is a Woman-headed Non-Governmental Organization
established on May 6, 1995. The organization’s aim is to work for the welfare of the
women and children and promote gender equality and women empowerment. Since
inception MA works with the under-privileged women/children and took challenging
issues like children education, health, prevention and awareness of HIV/AIDS,
formation of SHGs, sensitization of communities on women’s rights, anti-trafficking,
domestic violence, prevention of second generation into sex work…organization
works with strong commitment for the children of red light area, orphans, semi-
orphans, rag pickers, child laborers, school dropouts, so we established schools and
providing alternative livelihoods.
